Sterling Silver (925 Silver)

Sterling silver is made from 92.5% pure silver blended with 7.5% other metals (usually copper). This gives it strength while keeping its beautiful shine. Sterling silver is nickel-free, making it a safe and popular choice for sensitive ears.

Gold-Plated Sterling Silver

Some of our sterling silver hooks are finished with a fine layer of gold. This gives you the warm, golden look while still being backed by a sterling silver base. Over time, plating can fade with wear, but the underlying silver remains safe and durable.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is strong, tarnish-resistant, and keeps its shine over time. It’s a great low-maintenance option. However, some stainless steel alloys may contain nickel, so if you have sensitive ears, sterling silver is usually the safer choice.

Raw Copper (Available on Request)

Copper is a natural, rustic-looking metal with a warm reddish tone. It’s softer than silver or steel and can react with skin oils and moisture, sometimes leaving a temporary greenish tint on the skin. This reaction is harmless, but not always desirable, so we only offer raw copper earring hooks upon request.

Plated Copper Hooks

Some of our earring hooks are made from copper with a fine layer of plating to give them a gold or silver appearance. This plating helps protect the copper, adds shine, and makes them versatile to match different jewellery finishes.

Because the base is copper, these hooks can sometimes react with skin oils and moisture if the plating wears down, which may leave a harmless greenish tint on the skin. Most customers never notice this, but if you have very sensitive ears or want to avoid any risk of reaction, sterling silver hooks are the safest choice.

Iron

Our hoops are made from iron and come in a range of sizes:

  • 1.5 cm – Small & subtle, perfect for everyday wear

  • 2 cm – Slightly larger, still minimal and versatile

  • 2.5 cm – A balanced medium size, noticeable but not too bold

  • 3 cm – Stylish statement size without being oversized

  • 4 cm – Large hoops for a bold, eye-catching look

Iron hoops are durable and lightweight, but as with all base metals, those with very sensitive ears may prefer sterling silver options. Our Zirconia studs in gold are also composed of iron.

Leverback Hooks (Iron, Hypoallergenic)
Our leverback hooks are made from iron and are marketed as hypoallergenic. They’re strong, secure, and comfortable to wear. While many people with sensitive ears find them suitable, we recommend sterling silver if you have a strong nickel allergy or highly reactive skin.

High Quality Alloy

Some of our studs are made from a high quality jewellery alloy that has been specially plated for extra shine and durability. Customers love these studs for their long-lasting finish and bright, polished look. They also come in a range of sizes from 4mm, 5mm & 6mm.

Because alloys are blends of metals (often zinc-based), the exact mix can vary and may include nickel. While most people find them comfortable and long-wearing, we recommend sterling silver studs if you have highly sensitive ears or a known nickel allergy.

Bracelet Clasps & Materials

We use high-quality metals for all our bracelet clasps to ensure durability and comfort:

  • Toggle Clasps – Brass

  • Large Lobster Clasps – Brass with iron hooks

  • S Clasps – Brass

  • Regular Lobster Clasps – Stainless Steel

Brass may develop a natural patina over time, which adds character, while stainless steel stays shiny and low-maintenance.
